Mobile Golf Cart Repair in Sun 'n Lake of Sebring

Sebring Golf Cart Repair services golf carts at your driveway throughout Sun ‘n Lake of Sebring: the neighborhoods around Deer Run and Turtle Run, the district’s own streets, and the cart garages that come with a lot of the houses. The $50 to $75 service call includes the on-site diagnostic and applies toward the repair, and most jobs finish in the same visit. Sun ‘n Lake sits just northwest of Sebring off US 27, which makes it the bottom of the trip-fee range and the single most common address on our schedule.

A district, not a subdivision

Sun ‘n Lake of Sebring is a special district and unincorporated community, founded in April 1974 and governed by a five-member board of supervisors elected by the landowners. That structure is unusual and it shapes daily life here. The district provides its own drainage, potable water, sewerage, roads, and parks; its two wastewater plants process more than 510,000 gallons a day; and it runs code enforcement and a security department alongside the recreation facilities. The community describes itself as a master-planned golf and recreation community, and the 1,350-acre Sun ‘n Lake Preserve sits beside it.

Golf is the center of it. Sun ‘n Lake Golf Club runs two 18-hole par-72 courses: Deer Run, opened in 1976, and Turtle Run, opened in 1999. Houses were built around and between them for five decades, which means fairway lots, cart garages, and a resident population that treats the cart the way other towns treat a second car.

What Sun ‘n Lake carts do

This is a daily-driver cart market. The cart goes to the first tee, to the clubhouse, to the pool and the courts, to a neighbor three streets over. Carts that do that every day of the year accumulate discharge cycles and brake stops the way a golf-only cart never does, and there is no winter layup here to slow it down: the NOAA normals for the county’s Archbold Biological Station show zero nights at freezing and 92 days a year at 90°F or above.

Packs age on a clock. Lead-acid batteries last roughly four to six years under golf-course duty, and daily driving in this heat pushes them to the short end. The first signs are always the same: the loop that used to leave half a charge now runs the meter low, the charger runs later into the night, and the cart sags on the way home. Before anyone quotes a pack we load-test each battery individually and check the charger’s output, because one failed battery drags down five good ones and a weak charger imitates a dead pack perfectly. The battery replacement page covers the whole decision, and the range dropping page covers the ten-minute check you can do first.

Lithium pencils out here more than most places. Because these are real daily drivers, the lead-acid versus lithium math tilts toward lithium for a lot of Sun ‘n Lake owners: seven to ten or more years, zero watering, faster charging between trips, steady power to the last mile, for $1,600 to $3,500 installed against $1,200 to $1,800 for a lead-acid pack that will need replacing again in four to six years. The battery cost calculator puts both numbers side by side for your cart.

Humidity in the cart garage. The county is muggy from late April to mid November, and a closed cart garage holds that air. Terminals oxidize, charge-port pins corrode, and brake cams stiffen on carts that sit. A tune-up at $100 to $200, terminals cleaned and coated, water topped, brakes adjusted, and tires checked, once a year is the cheapest thing you can do for a cart here.

When the power goes out

Hurricane Ian on September 28, 2022 flooded streets and intersections in Sun ‘n Lake and Sebring and blacked out the traffic signals, and nearly all of Highlands County was without power for at least 24 hours. Hurricane Milton in October 2024 put 97 percent of the county’s electric customers in the dark. For a cart, a multi-day outage means a pack sitting discharged in the heat, which is exactly how lead-acid sulfates, and a charger that eats a surge when the grid comes back. Charge fully and disconnect the main negative before a forecast storm. Afterward, load test the pack and test the charger’s output before replacing anything. The charger repair page explains the post-storm charger case, which is a $100 to $300 repair or a $300 to $800 replacement, never a battery pack.

Roads and rules

The district maintains its own roads, and the rules for carts on them are the district’s to set. We could not confirm a published golf cart policy for district streets, so ask the district office for the current rule before you drive on them, and follow it. Two things are true regardless. US 27, the highway the community sits off, is a state road and not a cart road; carts cross state highways only where the Department of Transportation approves. And Florida’s equipment list under F.S. 316.212 applies to any cart on a designated public road: efficient brakes, reliable steering, safe tires, a rearview mirror, red reflectors front and rear, and headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and a windshield for driving after sunset. We install and repair all of it; see lights and street-legal equipment.

Published prices, bottom of the route

Everything on the pricing page applies in Sun ‘n Lake as written: solenoids $100 to $250, brake adjustment about $75, shoes and drums $100 to $250, tires $75 to $150 each, controllers $300 to $600, charger replacement $300 to $800. The trip fee is $50 to $75, the bottom of the range, and it comes off the bill when you approve the work. We are an independent service, not an authorized dealer or warranty center for Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha, ICON, or Evolution; for in-warranty factory work, your selling dealer is the right call.

Send the brand, the number of batteries you count, and what the cart is doing, with a photo of the battery compartment if you can. Most Sun ‘n Lake calls are fixed the same day. Carts in Avon Park, a few miles up US 27, share the route.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you service carts inside Sun 'n Lake?

Yes. Sun 'n Lake is the closest and busiest stop on our route, just northwest of Sebring off US 27, so it sits at the bottom of the trip-fee range at $50 to $75. The tech comes to your driveway or cart garage anywhere in the district.

Can I drive my cart on Sun 'n Lake roads?

The district owns and maintains its own roads, and it sets the rules for them. We could not confirm a published golf cart policy for district roads, so check with the district office for the current rule before you drive on them. US 27 is a state highway and is not a cart road under any rule.

Is lithium worth it for a Sun 'n Lake cart?

For a cart that runs to the course, the clubhouse, and the neighbors every day, often yes: $1,600 to $3,500 installed for seven to ten or more years with no watering. For a cart that goes out twice a week, a quality lead-acid pack at $1,200 to $1,800 usually wins the math. We run your actual mileage before recommending either.

How fast can you get there?

Same-day or next-day for nearly every call. Sun 'n Lake is on the way to everywhere else we go, so a cart that quits on a weekday morning is usually back on the road by evening if the parts are on the truck, and battery sets, solenoids, brake shoes, and tires usually are.
